Livro: Broken Glass Park by Alina Bronsky

Sinopse

The heroine of this enigmatic, razor-sharp, and thoroughly contemporary novel is seventeen- year-old Sacha Naimann, born in Moscow. Sacha lives in Berlin now with her two younger siblings and, until recently, her mother. She is precocious, independent, skeptical and, since her stepfather murdered her mother several months ago, an orphan. Unlike most of her companions, she doesn't dream of getting out the tough housing project where they live. Her dreams are different: she wants to write a novel about her mother; and she wants to end the life of Vadim, the man who murdered her. What strikes the reader most in this exceptional novel is Sacha's voice: candid, self-confident, mature and childlike at the same time: a voice so like the voices of many of her generation with its characteristic mix of worldliness and innocence, skepticism and enthusiasm. This is Sacha's story and it is as touching as any in recent literature.

Minha opinião

Após um início que prometia, a história acalma e quando achava que estava a se tornar aborrecida, a vida de Sacha acaba mesmo por ser uma caixa de surpresas.

Sacha vive no ghetto russo em Berlim e carrega nos ombros a responsabilidade de ser a irmã mais velha de Anton (tímido e que não fala) e Alissa (inteligente e faladora), ter ficado orfã, e de ter como tutora a prima do padrasto, o homem que é pai dos irmãos que adora mas que matou a mãe e o namorado desta na presença da família.

O plano de vida de Sacha passa por matar o padrasto. Sacha conta os detalhes do seu plano ao seu irmão Anton, Sacha escreve num diário as várias maneiras de o matar de modo a que ele sofra o mais possível. Sacha é inteligente, vingativa, mas adorada pelos seus irmãos. 

Após a decisão de ir conhecer a jornalista que escreveu sobre o padrasto e o que o levou a matar a mãe, a vida de Sacha muda por completo, e o seu objecto de vingança passa para segundo plano apesar de nunca perder o protagonismo. 

Com o título de uma música dos Simple Minds (o parque no livro existe e é em muito semelhante à descrição realizada na canção), a referência a músicas, cinema e livros é uma presença constante neste livro.
Uma das bandas mencionadas e que não conhecia é a Nautilus Pompilius.
